How do I request a time block with the children?
Maternal and paternal grandparents use the same process. The parent assigned to the date receives the request, so choosing the mother’s day asks the mother for approval.
A 54-second walkthrough with ElevenLabs narration and screenshots of the app’s mobile screens. Household details are fictional. English captions and a transcript are available. Music: Ease Ambient Harbor II by NeuroGardens.
Open Calendar in your own account. You need an active grandparent account with calendar access.
Choose a current or future date.Tap the date, or choose Request time with the children and enter the date.
Check who will approve. The form shows Approval needed from… for the parent assigned to that day.
Enter pickup, drop-off, and a message. Both times must be on the same date, drop-off must be later, and pickup must still be in the future.
Choose Send for approval. The request stays pending until the assigned parent approves it in its Messages request thread. You can cancel your own pending request.
A visit reserves part of a day. It does not change the overnight assignment or overnight totals.
Here’s how a grandparent requests time with the children during the mother’s parenting time.
Open Calendar, then tap Request time with the children. You can also tap a current or future date.
Choose a date and check Approval needed from. The parent assigned to that day decides.
Enter pickup and drop-off on the same date. Choose future times, and add a short message to the parent.
Review the date and times, then tap Send for approval.
Your request stays pending until the assigned parent decides. You can cancel your own pending request.
The mother opens Approvals and chooses Approve visit or Decline visit.
Wait for approval before making plans. Overnight assignments and totals stay unchanged.
How do I ask several grandparents to watch the children?
As a parent, open Calendar and choose Ask grandparents for help. Choose a current or future date assigned to you, enter the start and end times on that date, select one or more active grandparents, and add a message. Choose Send request.
Each selected grandparent is notified separately and can choose Accept time block or Can’t help in Calendar. The first grandparent to accept is confirmed automatically. The request closes for everyone else, and the parent and invited grandparents receive the outcome. A decline leaves the request open for the others.
Pending invitations cannot receive childcare requests until the grandparent activates their account and has calendar access. A parent can cancel their own request; the confirmed grandparent can also cancel if they can no longer help. Cancellation does not automatically ask the others again. Overnight assignments and totals stay unchanged.
In Calendar, select a current or future date. In Parenting choose Change Parenting Time; in School or Everything choose Request schedule change. Choose Same-day time block, enter the pickup and drop-off times, add a message, and choose Send for approval. The other parent must approve before the time block takes effect. Use Request visit when requesting as a grandparent with calendar access. School access alone does not grant visit-request access.
Open Calendar → School. Parents in the selected family can filter by child, add school events manually, or choose Import PDF. Everything is the default when you have both calendar permissions. It shows compact school markers alongside parenting time; select a day for details. School dates are stored separately: they never change parenting assignments, overnight totals, handoffs, signed schedules or dating availability. Parents have school access by default. A parent can grant an adult relative View the school calendar in Family permissions; it starts off and permits viewing only. This is separate from parenting-calendar access. A person with school access only sees School. Child accounts and dating-only connections do not receive school access.
Parents can also choose Request schedule change from School or Everything to request a parenting-time change. Grandparents with parenting-calendar access can choose Request visit. These use the existing approval and chat flow; they do not edit school events.
Choose a readable school PDF.AI starts reading automatically and fills in the school year, timezone and events behind the scenes. There is no import form to complete. If the year is unclear, answer a short question. Your device reads available PDF text automatically. Cloudflare validates the uploaded PDF and uses the text and your instructions for AI suggestions, with Cloudflare text conversion as a fallback. Keep the website open until the upload says it is saved. After that, processing continues if you close the preview or website. Your private source and preview are encrypted and kept for seven days; a fallback PDF is removed once its text is saved. Imports are not added to Documents automatically.
Check the event preview.Recent import cards show progress and let you reopen a finished preview. The selected child is used automatically; if needed, choose who the calendar is for. Use Adjust with AI for changes such as “Use the elementary-school dates only.” Source excerpts and questions help you check the PDF. Dates are inclusive; weekly school hours can include skipped dates. Missing or unclear information stays a question. For an image-only scan, upload a searchable copy or add the events manually.
Add the events.Nothing is added until you choose Add. Duplicate entries are skipped rather than silently overwritten. Saved events can be edited or removed. Removing an event hides it; retained records follow family-record retention and review.
AI can miss or misread dates. Check the school’s original calendar before relying on an event. Importing a holiday or school break does not decide which parent has the children. School imports do not automatically send messages or reminders.
How do I alert the other parent about a medical event?
Open Medical alerts from the navigation, choose Add medical event, select the child, and enter when it happened, what happened, care provided, and any follow-up. Choose Record event and alert parent. Medical alerts are shared only with parents in that family.
An email notice linking to the event is queued for the other active parent, who can choose Acknowledge update. Either parent can add a follow-up or correction. The original entry remains in the history, and a new update needs a new acknowledgement. An acknowledgement applies to that version and does not establish medical consent or agreement. Medical details are omitted from notification emails and texts. For an emergency, contact emergency services directly.
The email names the inviting adult and explains private date planning. Your one-time sign-in code appears in the subject and body and lasts 10 minutes. The invitation lasts 10 days. Enter the code, review the current Terms if asked, and explicitly accept the dating connection. Your display name is enough to plan dates. In Settings → Your photo, you may choose and save a photo for active dating connections; no bio is required. Existing private photos are not shared automatically. Opening an email link does not accept anything.
Use Send a new code if the sign-in code expired. This does not extend the invitation deadline. Each adult controls sharing separately. Family profiles and family invitations follow their own requirements. Use a separate browser profile or private window to test another account.
Open My dating connections and invite the other adult. They verify their own email and explicitly accept. Connecting does not join either person’s family.
In Calendar, choose the person from Calendar to view. Use Share my available times if you want to share available windows. Under your own sharing settings, you can separately choose Use my parenting plan to find available times. Your partner sees the available times and is not told how they were found. You can also add a manual window spanning multiple days or hide a time. Use Edit window or Remove window beside a saved window. Editing lets you change its dates and times. Choose Block time to keep a time or date range unavailable inside a wider range. Date-only ranges include the last date. For an available date range, enable Set hours for each day to choose a daily start and end, such as 10 AM–8 PM. For an available window, you can choose a maximum date length such as one or four hours; the limit applies to each date. Overlapping available windows combine and keep the shorter limit. A day or range proposal can leave the clock time open while specifying its planned length. Only days with enough consecutive time outside blocked periods can be accepted. Exact-time selectors show the available windows and offer valid start/end choices. An optional shared note on the request is visible to both adults; existing private notes remain private. Intentional availability updates notify only this connection; emails follow the recipient’s date notification settings. The default view covers the next 30 days; no parenting assignments, child details or handoffs are shared.
Choose an available window or Propose a date. Choose an available day without setting a time, a date range for the other adult to choose from, or an exact date and time. Only available choices can be confirmed. A day without a time stays untimed; it does not reserve the whole day. The other adult accepts, declines or counters. Nothing is booked automatically. Exact times include local and original timezones.
To cancel a confirmed date, open its details and choose Cancel date. Select a broad reason; Prefer not to share details is available. A shared note is optional. Suggest new times, ask to reschedule later, or cancel without another request.
The original date remains cancelled. Replacement dates need a new acceptance. You can also send an open-ended request for another date without picking a time; it stays pending without making a calendar event.
Sharing availability is optional. With no shared times, use Propose a date to ask the other adult to suggest one. Choose Discuss this date on a request or confirmed date to add comments shared only between the two of you. The discussion continues through acceptance and rescheduling. Comments do not confirm or change a date. Under My date notifications, enable Email me date updates to receive notices about requests, comments and changes. Emails link to the app and omit comment text. Email notices and reminders start off. There are no repeated chase messages. On My dating connections, the red End dating connection button is at the bottom of the selected connection. Review the confirmation and optionally leave a message, or leave it blank. Access stops immediately. The other adult receives a private in-app connection update and can read the optional message after the connection ends. Email notices respect their settings and omit that message. Dating information is not sent to a co-parent. Partner memory sharing and deeper profile features remain disabled.
Open My dating connections, select the person, and choose Open Common Ground. Either adult can start. Each person agrees to participate separately.
Answer the 18 questions independently, mark how much each answer matters, and optionally add a short note. You can skip any question. Drafts save privately; wait for the saved status before leaving.
Review your answers and choose Submit my answers. Submission locks them. The other person sees only general progress until you both submit.
After both submit, compare your selections and use the conversation guide together. Notes are included only if both of you independently chose to share them. There are no scores or predictions, and AI does not process questionnaire content.
Common Ground is optional and does not block date planning. A questionnaire lasts 60 days. You can withdraw sharing or export your own answers; removing your answers never deletes the other person’s. Ending the dating connection stops access. Nothing is sent to a co-parent or family circle, and the app does not send automatic survey emails. Share the authenticated Common Ground page link when you want the other person to open it.
How do private memories and life-story boards work?
Open Memories to create a photo album. Choose Add photos, select your photos, then save. Titles, stories and dates are optional. Existing stories, recordings and documents stay available alongside the album.
Tap a photo to open it full screen. Swipe left or right, or use the arrow buttons, to move through the album. Adults with access can like and comment on each photo. Photo conversations follow that photo’s sharing and review permissions; child accounts remain read-only. Likes and comments do not send automatic emails or push notifications.
Keep the story of how you met private
A relationship memory board can hold private meeting stories and memorabilia. It starts owner-only. Sharing these boards with dating partners is disabled in the current release.
Preserve and share a parent’s life story
Life-story boards begin private. In Manage board sharing, choose an active adult from the Family member dropdown, then choose View photos and comment or Contribute memories for owner review. The list uses the family circle currently selected in the app. An adult needs a sign-in account; profiles without one are shown as unavailable. Invitations go to the selected member’s verified account email. Readers receive the whole published board and its future published memories. Sharing reach is Family unit only · 0 degrees outside; inviting arbitrary email addresses or traversing connected families is not enabled. Dating-partner board sharing is currently disabled. Family membership is checked again at acceptance and on access. A board-only invitation does not add anyone to the owner’s family circle or expose parenting records, calendars, messages, medical records, other boards, or private relationship memories.
Adult contributions and later edits wait for the owner’s review. Readers continue to see the previously approved version until a replacement is published. Children can view an explicitly shared board, but cannot contribute. The owner chooses when a child is ready; there is no automatic release at a birthday or age.
Before a new adult accepts a board invitation, they must check an acknowledgement of the album privacy rules. These ask recipients not to voluntarily submit or share the photos as legal evidence. They do not create legal privilege or guarantee court exclusion, and do not restrict lawful legal process, preservation duties, legal advice, safety reports or legal rights. An authorized parent acknowledges the expectations for a parent-managed child account. Existing members are not automatically recorded as having agreed.
Add a living or late parent without making an account
In Family → Parents and life stories, add a parent or guardian reference and connect it to a child. You can describe a deceased person as a late parent and open a private life-story board for their photos and stories. A reference never creates a login, invitation, board access, or parenting permissions. A deceased person does not approve invitations. A sole parent can manage their own circle; invitations for a living co-parent and setup of a child’s login are separate steps.
Add photos and other memories
Thumbnails appear as photos are prepared and remain visible after upload. When a camera capture date is available, it is kept separately for that photo. A photo without a capture date stays undated. Original EXIF, camera and GPS metadata is removed from the prepared image and checked again on the server. Older uploads are not changed to infer dates.
Photos and PDFs can be up to 25 MiB each, audio up to 100 MiB, and video up to 500 MiB. Upload progress, cancellation and resumable uploads help with larger files. JPEG, PNG, WebP, PDF, MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, MP4, WebM, and MOV are supported. Playback depends on the browser and file; use a download when a supported file cannot play inline. Photo location metadata is removed; other files may contain metadata available to their authorized recipients.
Remove a memory or change access
The owner can remove any memory or their whole board. Contributors can remove their own memories. Trash hides the content immediately and keeps it recoverable for 30 days. Expired trash and its media are then removed from primary memory storage; provider backups may remain for their applicable retention period. Restoring a contributor’s memory can require review again. This is separate from the app’s retained parenting-record history.
Owners can revoke board access at any time. This stops future access through the app but cannot retrieve copies a recipient already received. Memory notices use generic email text, and no one is subscribed to text messages automatically.
Are dating profiles automatically disclosed to family?
No. Automatic 90-day disclosure and its notices are disabled. The current dating feature shares only intentionally permitted available times and private date plans between the connected adults. It sends no dating information to co-parents. Existing historical records are preserved. Deeper profiles, ex-partner photos, child messaging and partner memory sharing are disabled.
In Settings → Text notifications, choose the categories you want, enter your own mobile number, give consent, and confirm the code sent to your phone. Texts include an app link, without medical details or message contents. Parents can select medical alerts; adults can also select childcare, schedule, and message notifications.
Text delivery is currently awaiting AWS sender setup. Email notifications remain available. When enabled, message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Consent is optional. Stop texts in Settings or by replying STOP; reply HELP or email notifications@calmmere.com for help. Notification delivery can fail or be delayed; check the app for the current record.
Sign in as yourself. The visit button appears for active accounts whose relationship is a grandparent and whose calendar access is enabled. A pending invitation is not an active account. Ask a parent to check your invitation and permissions on the Family page.
Previewing another member’s access is read-only. A parent account uses Change Parenting Time instead of the grandparent visit button.
Choose Calendar in the bottom navigation. Use More for the rest of the menu. Tap a date to begin; the request form fills a small screen, and you can scroll to its actions.
If a desktop browser’s phone preview looks enlarged or cropped, check the preview’s zoom and use Fit to window. Browser zoom remains available for accessibility. On very narrow screens, the calendar itself can scroll sideways without widening the whole page.
Open a conversation in Messages, then choose Attach → Video from device or Record video. After recording, stop and watch the video with sound. You can retake it or choose Use video to attach it. Add a message if you like, then press Send. Recording and reviewing do not send anything.
Use an MP4 or MOV video up to 25 MB. On iOS and Android, Record video opens your device’s camera. If your web browser cannot record MP4, choose a video from your device instead. Camera and microphone access is requested only when you choose to record. Videos stay in the conversation and follow its existing access rules.
